Dear Spartan Family,
As the spread of coronavirus continues in the State of Pennsylvania, the level of concern for our students, faculty, and families has grown. I want to assure you that as a district, we take the health and safety of our children very seriously and are continually monitoring all available information as we face the challenges brought on by the coronavirus.
The responses from local institutions have been wide and varied. I want to share the steps that we have taken and will continue to take to keep our children safe.
First, please be assured that classrooms are being treated daily with cleaning products specifically designed to stop viruses such as the coronavirus effectively. On March 9th, all buildings received a "deep" cleaning of all classrooms and student spaces. Additionally, our staff has been working with our students at all levels to understand the importance of handwashing. Please reinforce handwashing with your children.
We are further limiting the potential of the spread of coronavirus by temporarily not allowing visitors, presenters, and guests into our buildings. We do not have the capacity to determine if a particular presenter or visitor has been in an area already associated with the coronavirus.
Finally, we have suspended field trips planned up to March 24th. Maintaining “Social Distance” has been a strong recommendation of the CDC. Doing so is often impossible during field trips where we have no control over others attending the same location.
We will continue to follow information from the CDC and the Pennsylvania Department of Health and adjust our plans accordingly. We are also hopeful that the Pennsylvania Department of Education will share their guidance with us.
Keeping everyone safe and healthy is our goal. Working together, we will achieve our goal.
