How much does breakfast and lunch cost?

A standard Lunch costs $2.10

A standard Breakfast costs $1.05

There will also be miscellaneous ala carte items for an extra cost.

What time does school start?

The school day starts at the 8:10 AM bell.

What time does school end?

Students will be dismissed after announcements at 2:56 PM

What school supplies will I need? 

Standard school supplies (pencils, binders, notebooks, however please keep in mind that each teacher will indicate specific supplies in their syllabus, which can be accessed on-line).

Where do students go upon arrival?

Students arriving prior to 7:50 must wait in the cafeteria until the 7:50 bell rings.  They may then go to their homerooms. Students must be in there homeroom by 8:10 AM.  Their homeroom is the same room as their first period class.

What time is breakfast served?

Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:05 AM

How do I put money in my child’s lunch account?

You may send cash/check in with your student. If writing out a check, please make payable to “Nutrition Inc.”  Your child will then turn in the cash/check to the cafeteria to be deposited into their account.  They will need to know their student ID #.  You may be receiving more information on how to deposit money into their account on-line.

What happens if my child is late?

If a student comes to school late, they need to report to the high school office with a note explaining their lateness and sign in on the green sign-in sheet.  They will then receive a pass to report to their classroom.

How do I handle early dismissals?

If a student needs to leave school early, they must turn in a pink early dismissal form signed by the parent/guardian (a note signed by the parent is also acceptable). The pink early dismissal forms may be found in the high school office or on-line and one will be sent home with each student.  They turn the form or note into the high school office upon arriving to school that day.  When it is time for them to leave, they will report to the high school office and retrieve their form to be signed upon returning to school.  If a parent calls in an early dismissal during the day, the parent must come into the high school office to pick their child up and sign them out.

What if my child is going to be absent?

When the student returns to school, he/she will need a note or green absence form detailing the reason for the absence and must be signed by the parent.  The green absence forms may be found in the high school office and one will be sent home with each student.  The completed forms must be returned to the high school office within 3 days of being absent.

How are parents notified of delays or closings?

Parents are notified with an automated phone message and various media outlets and on our district website

Can a student use a backpack?

Students are permitted to bring backpacks to school and store in their homeroom.  Bags that are larger than the typical backpack size, or pull bags, are not to be used during the school day.

Is there a school handbook?

The student/parent handbook can be found on the district website

What if I want to take my child on a vacation during school:

The student/parent may come to the high school office to pick up a yellow family excursion form and return it to the high school office filled out and signed by the parent prior to leaving for the vacation.

Bus Drop Off and Pick Up:

Students will be dropped off at the foyer entrance.  Students will return to the buses at the end of the day through the main foyer doors.  Buses will be parked in the main parking lot.

What if my child needs to ride a different bus home?

If a student needs to ride another bus for any reason, they will need to have a note written and signed by the parent/guardian and turn it in to the high school office by 9:00 am.  The office will then give the student a bus pass to give to the bus driver of the bus they are riding that day.

Where do I go to drop my student off if I drive him/her to school?

Students may be dropped off along Cemetery Street.

What if my child needs to take prescription medication during the time that they are at school?

What if my child needs special services?

A wide spectrum of services are provided to students with special needs, if you have any questions or need assistance please contact the Director of Special Education Services at 570-584-5111.

Can I access grades online?

Yes, you will need to create an online account by going to and selecting the parent portal link.  Follow the onscreen instructions.  In addition there is a short instructional video on the web page.

How does the schedule work?

All schedules will be mailed to students in early August.  There are seven 50-minute instructional periods with a 30-minute lunch.  There are semester (half year) and full year courses.  Classes scheduled for period 1 are considered a students homeroom class.  Please contact the Guidance department if there is a problem with a schedule.

Do I need a lock for a school locker?

School lockers are provided for students to use throughout the school day.  The lockers do not have locks on them therefore it is recommended that students provide their own locks to secure their belongings.  Any lock is permissible.

Can my child bring a cell phone?

Yes, students may bring cell phones to school, however their use throughout the day may be restricted.  Please refer to the school handbook at
